Widening of Accommodation Entitlement

Under the Widening of Accommodation Entitlement at Limited Locations, if you have an established long-term relationship and are assigned to select locations, after 31 October 23 you will be entitled to Service Family Accommodation in the same way as those who are married or in civil partnerships.

    What's it for?

The Widening of Accommodation Entitlement at limited locations [WAE(LL)] will run until the launch of the New Accommodation Offer on 11 March 24. This is a first step in delivering the commitment made in the Defence Accommodation Strategy in October 2022 to allocate accommodation to personnel in long-term relationships on the same basis as those who are married.

The following sites are part of WAE(LL):

    • RNAS Yeovilton

    • RMB Norton Manor

    • Leuchars Station

    • JHC FS Aldergrove

    • Palace Barracks Holywood

    • Thiepval Barracks Lisburn

    • RAF Shawbury

    • RAF Cosford

    Am I eligible?

To be eligible for WAE(LL) you must:

    • receive an assignment order to one of the eight sites with a report for duty date (RFDD) on or after 31 October 23 and before 11 March 24;

      AND

    • be in a relationship defined as an Established Long Term Relationship LTR(E). You will need to register your relationship status on JPA and have it verified by your Unit HR

The evidence requirements and registration process for an (LTR(E)) can be found  at Paragraphs 0116 and 0117 of

      JSP 464 vol 1 part 1

    How do I Apply ?

To apply for Service Family Accommodation, you can complete an application on the  e-1132 system, available on the Defence Intranet. To access the e-1132 system, please copy and paste the following URL into your address bar when logged on to the Defence Intranet: https://e1132.domis-r.r.mil.uk/e1132/ (for security reasons, the e-1132 system does not work on the Internet)

If you don’t have access to the Intranet, complete MOD Form 1132 which can be found in Chapter 4 annex A of JSP 464 vol 1 part 2 and send one copy of the completed form to the Housing Provider serving the Shore Based Unit/Station where you seek accommodation, and one copy to the Ship/Shore based Unit/Station to which you are currently assigned

From 15 September, any eligible E1132 forms submitted will be treated under the widened entitlement policy.

If SFA is unavailable, Substitute SFA (SSFA) in line with your entitlement will be sourced for you from the private rental sector.

What if I’m already at one of the sites or my RFDD is before 31 Oct 23?

If you are in an LTR(E) and assigned to one of the eight sites prior to 31 October 2023 will not be entitled to SFA. You may still apply for surplus SFA as per JSP 464 Vol 1 Part 1 chapter 5.

If you are already living in surplus SFA at any of the sites you will not be required to move out of your SFA to accommodate Service personnel arriving on assignment.

If I’m a part of WAE(LL) will I be entitled to anything else as well?

No. There is no entitlement or eligibility for any other supporting payments or allowances as a result of your LTR(E) status being treated as PStatCat1 for accommodation allocation purposes.
